The National Research & Training Center on Blindness & Low Vision (NRTC) is excited to introduce a new monthly social media series designed to feature long-standing tools and courses for professionals who work with individuals who are blind or have low vision (B/LV).

Each month, Resource Wednesday will highlight a free resource available on our website, while Spotlight on Learning will feature an existing course from our catalog that remains relevant and valuable. These resources aim to support people who are B/LV, as well as professionals, including healthcare providers, OIB program managers, vocational rehabilitation professionals, and other service providers. This initiative will be featured on our social media platforms, including X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.

To kick off this initiative during Low Vision Awareness Month, we’re featuring the Blindness Basics for Employers video series as our first Resource Wednesday spotlight. This two-part series provides foundational information on blindness and low vision created specifically for employers. These videos are available on our website and YouTube channel. Watch them here: Blindness Basics for Employers.

Later this month, our Spotlight on Learning will feature Introduction to Blindness and Low Vision, an essential course for professionals who are new to working with individuals who are B/LV. This course covers important topics such as:

  • Stereotypes and misconceptions about blindness
  • The socioeconomic impact of blindness
  • Barriers to social acceptance

This course is available for CRC, ACVREP, and NBPCB credit. Enroll through our course catalog: Introduction to Blindness and Low Vision.

Stay connected with us on social media to see new Resource Wednesday and Spotlight on Learning features each month. Take advantage of our free tools and courses to build your skills and support the B/LV community.
