Helen Keller Deafblind Awareness Week

Deafblind Awareness Week, June 28-July 2, 2010, will be recognized by the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision and the T.K. Martin Center from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, June 29, at Mississippi State University. The Centers will host activities including a tour of the T.K. Martin Center and presentations of research outcomes related to a project on Persons Aging with Hearing and Vision Loss. Resources for persons in the immediate community who have a dual sensory loss and information about visual and tactile sign language will also be available.

Around the state, other public awareness events will be hosted 6/28 at the Reach Center in Tupelo, 6/30 at the Addie McBryde Center in Jackson, 7/01 at the Turtle Creek Mall in Hattiesburg, and 7/02 at the Lighthouse for the Blind/Lions Technology Lab in Gulfport.

Events are open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
