Personal Reflections on White Cane Day
With International White Cane Day just around the corner, NRTC Research Associate Kendra Farrow has decided to share her personal reflections of utilizing the cane in daily living. The NRTC Facebook page will feature one of Kendra’s posts each day leading up to October 15th. White Cane Day was established by Congress in 1964. Since that time, local, state, and national organizations have used the date to spread awareness of the need for caution with blind pedestrians and to recognize the contributions of people with blindness and low vision. Starting in 2011, President Obama has proclaimed the same date as Blind Americans Equality Day. We hope that you find Kendra’s words insightful, and we invite you to interact with her directly on our page.
