The NRTC's 2012 Annual Teachers' Workshop was recently held at the T.K. Martin Center on Mississippi State University’s campus. The workshop, which was open to all Mississippi teachers who have a blind or visually impaired student in their class and to any parents who have a child who is blind or visually impaired, covered several topics including braille and large print resources, learning media assessments, and utilizing Apple products to facilitate learning. One of the highlights of the workshop was a session led by Nicole (Nikki) James, Blind Rehabilitation Specialist and Assistive Technology Trainer at the Blind Rehabilitation Center in Biloxi, MS. Nikki did a hands-on training on the Voice-over accessibility function of the iOS Apple devices. Another highlight was a session by Casey Robertson, Itinerant TVI and co-developer of the new National Reading Media Assessment, which will be used in Mississippi.
